




It was a drive across narrow gullies as we passed through vegetable vendors and dhobi ghats or Indian laundromats that are neither self service nor automatic but then in the Indian countryside and even cities, we are yet to become totally mechanised.
We found some children playing cards that they had designed and painted themselves. It was as if even young children were stamped with Raghurajpur essence.
However, the most interesting part was that a temple complex ran through the middle of this village where anyone could go and visit anytime. Since the village has existed for centuries, it is amazing how the villagers have kept the tradition and culture alive.
And of course, I met a legendary artist who has won a number of awards, including the National Award!
