Wearisome Lalit Kala Akademi at Puri, Odisha

The akademi at Puri appeared wearisome. In the middle of the day, around 3pm, exhibition halls were locked. Junior staff informed that seniors were in a meeting. Of course, since the reception was empty and so was pretty much the whole building.

Most people find art boring. Even in Delhi those who visit the akademi are few and far in between. But with such a dreary appearance, it is like inviting only the exhibitors to attend their own art exhibitions! 😴😴😴

Though this could be an exceptional day. And perhaps nothing unusual for a rather sleepy town like Puri. One can not overlook that there are other quaint and quiet towns in India that are buzzing with art scene. Much like the nearby Raghurajpur and Pipli art village. The point is that Puri, too, has the potential to become an art hub.
