Today, February 10th, 2025, the Government of India’s Ministry of Health began its mass drug administration programme for Lymphatic Filariasis in endemic zones across India where ASHA and other health workers will distribute anti filarial medicines to the at risk population.

These workshops across government journalism institutions in the endemic states will hopefully help in making these budding future journalists aware and informed about these diseases.

These workshops among the youth will pave the way to a generation of journalists that will never have any myths or queries left about these neglected diseases.

The workshop took place in Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Rewa Campus on Friday 7th February 2025.

Three special guests from the state health department, Madhya Pradesh, for district Rewa, Chief Medical officer, Dr. Sanjeev Shukla and District Malaria Officer, Dr. Smita Namdev, and technical officer, Vector Borne Disease, Dr. Shikha Dube conducted detailed sessions explaining the perspective of the disease, specifically from regional point of view, and informed in which district blocks the situation is more grave.

A writing competition was held to see how much students had learned in such a short span of time. The three best winners were awarded, too.
